Review of the Phase 1 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe

So, firstly, what I wanna start off by is giving you guys a review of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
MCU began with the release of the first Iron Man in 2008. Iron Man just placed the basics of the back story of Tony Stark and his kidnapping, The Ten Rings, and The Iron Man. The movie was one of the very few movies based on comic heroes other than Superman and Batman. Iron Man was critically acclaimed. And it pretty much set everybody for the one of the best series of movies.  With Iron Man, MCU also started a trend of adding post-credit scenes, which created suspense and excitement for forthcoming movies. In Iron Man, we see Samuel Jackson as Nick Fury and a pretty subtle hint for something bigger to come.

Later in 2008 also released The Incredible Hulk. The second Hulk movie with a different actor portraying Banner/Hulk, it was better than the first, but did not do as well as Iron Man. We see another post-credit scene, with Tony Stark talking to General Ross. The good thing about the TIH was that it laid a pretty decent idea about the Hulk and his powers and popularized The Abomination.

Immediately following the successful release of Iron Man in 2008, Marvel Studios announced it was developing a sequel. Iron Man 2 came out in 2010, and people content with Iron Man were expecting something better. And it delivered. Iron Man 2 introduced four important characters of MCU – Nick Fury, Black Widow, Phil Coulson and Col. James Rhodes/War Machine. It introduced S.H.I.E.L.D and new suits and a new villain – Whiplash. And again another post-credits scene, made comic fans around the world go crazy with it hinting towards the arrival of Thor.

Thor released in 2011, with excitement at its peak because of the introduction of another superhero in MCU. Thor couldn't live up to the expectations, but gave us the general idea about Asgrad, Thor, Heimdall, and most important of all, Loki. Thor’s story line couldn't live up to the hype but it did what it was needed to do, give the audience the general idea of Thor and Loki, and set them up for the “Bigger” picture. Another post-creds scene shows Erik Selvig talking to Nick Fury about the Cosmic Cube and Loki looking on. It also introduced Hawkeye/Clint Barton with one scene.

2011 got the introduction of yet another superhero, The first Avenger, Captain America. We get to know Steve Rogers from his early days, met Howard Stark and The Red Skull, and see the familiar Cosmic Cube come back, with a bigger role to play. Nothing much for the “bigger picture” in this movie. Just the intro to Captain America, his defrosting and the Cosmic Cube. Something important for the future from this movie though, is the introduction of Bucky Barnes who we will see in the sequel. I’ll update you about that later on.

And in 2012, was released the largest joint-venture of superheroes till date, comprising of 7 heroes, 4 of whom have their own series. The Avengers made every comic fan and non-comic fan go nuts with excitement. What we got to know about every hero was used in this movie and the return of Loki was just a cherry on top of the cake. Mark Ruffalo became the third person to portray the Hulk and did it better than his predecessors.  Many people had a few problems with The Avengers, a few “mistakes”, but I have the explanation to them. More on that, later on. With the Avengers ended Phase 1 : Avengers Assembled of MCU.
What Phase 1 basically did was lay down the important information about every superhero for the upcoming Phase 2. The biggest post-credits scene was shown in The Avengers with Thanos being shown. This gave people the idea that more is to come. Thus ended Phase 1. And thus, ends my first post.

                                                                                                                        Dr. Marvel. Over and Out.

Iron Man 3 Review

So, as all you guys know , iron man 3 is out in theatres in most countries right now .I saw the film yesterday .  Most people asked me this as soon as i told them , " Did you like it?" and my answer to them was F*** YEAH! Excuse me for my language but there's no other way to say it . This film was one of the best marvel films ever . It was probably the darkest  marvel films yet .  I didn't have much expectations for iron man 3 after i saw iron man 2 but what i saw , i liked. ME GUSTA IRON MAN ! . And yeah , don't worry guys, no spoilers ahead .
Let's talk about the plot first , it was an ace plot . It was well written unlike iron man 2 or the avengers. The pace was just right , the script kept me intact , builds up a good suspense and an amazing twist. Found no loop holes, wasn't a drag . All in all it was good .
Performances now . As always Robert Downey Jr was  Robert Downey Jr , no complaints. Gwyneth Paltrow was okay , not an eye catching performance but not bad either . Ben Kingsley , he's the man! He played his character marvellously , maybe even better than Downey Jr  , he was the soul of iron man 3.
Don Cheadle again was okay . Guy Pearce , this guy , i just have no words for him . AMAZING JUST AMAZING!  He was ace . Period!
Coming to the dialogues now , this was a let down . Not many memorable dialogues and sad to say , most of tony stark's jokes as one of the veterans said was " cheesy one liners" . I laughed only at maybe one or two jokes of his . I'm not saying that all the dialogues were bad but its like i don't remember then right now .They didn't have that much of an effect on me. In this category , i'm afraid iron man 3 failed.
The action was perfect , lottsa booms, zaps and zooms , haha. The graphics were pretty good as well , not something which you haven't seen before but still good.
So, to conclude , i recommend you watch this movie in theatres ASAP! You'll enjoy it. Good plot , good performances , good pace , good suspense, good graphics, good action and a good twist , only bad part was the dialogues. Was it better than iron man 2? Yes .Better than the avengers? Yes . Better than Iron man 1? No, i'm afraid . There was something about part 1 which iron man 3 couldn't reach upto in my opinion.
So, that was my review , comic maniacs! This is Dr.DC signing off!
                                                                                                                      - Dr.DC

How can a review be complete without a trailer ?

Dr. Marvel's Intro.

Hey there fellow comic maniacs. I'm Dr. Marvel. I'm here to give your dose of everything movies and comic. Dr. DC being a DC fan, it is quite clear I'm a Marvel Guy. But, I believe every superhero has his equivalent in the opposite universe. My favourite heroes are Iron Man and Batman. Both rich, genius and completely and totally opposite. But now, who doesn't like Batman? My favourite villains include Joker, because of his madness, Darth Vader (Yes, I love Star Wars) and Magneto. I follow quite other things too, like Star Trek, Doctor Who and Star Wars, as you have seen above. So, you might get posts about them too.
So, the blog is something, according to us, like a treatment to all you Comicaholics. You will get news, reviews, previews, answers to general questions which get asked after Fantasy/Sci-Fi movies and a whole lot of other things. So keep checking up with us, and keep coming back for more. Dr. Marvel, Over and Out.

Dr.DC's Intro

Hey comic maniacs! This is Dr.DC aka Nikhil .Dr.Marvel and I are gonna help give medicine to satisfy your needs . As you can see , i'm a dc fan but its not like i hate marvel, i just prefer dc more . Batman's my favourite superhero, i've been in love with him since i was a child . My first batman film was "Batman and Robin" and i saw it when i was like 3 or 4 i guess . I loved it at that time, now  realize that it was one of the worst movies ever made but on the other hand , "The Dark Knight" was one of the best movies ever made so, it makes up for everything . Just like Batman's my fav superhero , Joker's my fav villain . Let's face it , Batman and Joker , they were meant to be . I recently saw the dark knight trilogy back to back for about 7 hours ( yeah , i'm jobless :P).  So , coming back to the blog , my friend and i made this blog to share our theories about stuff , not necessarily related to comics but yeah , mostly about them . We're gonna be posting reviews , theories , answer questions , etc. So, hope you guys like our blog .Peace out
